Lately our weekends have been filled with a bunch of traveling and running around; and I’m loving every minute of it. Although, my feet on the other hand quickly disagreed with this ensemble. I’m realizing that, more often than not, heels aren’t always the most functional shoe (although walking around in these booties were MUCH more comfortable than that time I tried to walk my dog while in stilettos – yes I did try that once and it may or may not have been inspired by my foolish instincts to believe that I could pull off a “Carrie Bradshaw” – no judgement, ladies.) Thus, halfway through the day I switched over to my trusted, and freshly cleaned converse (find out how to clean them here!). I always keep a pair of flats on hand for that purpose; I may love the shoes, but my feet tend to have an opinion of their own.

Can I just say how much I love this skirt? It’s insanely soft and comfortable; the perfect weekend piece by far! Although, don’t forget to wear spandex underneath, I made the mistake of walking out the door without them once and had quite a few “Marilyn Monroe” moments that day!
I am a sucker for a cute, relaxed look, and this outfit just proves that. Mix simple pieces and baby neutral hues and you have what I call the “Shelby look”. Simply put, I like to keep my style functional and versatile, that way I can go to a majority of places and events without needing to own 1,000 different pieces. And if there’s any way to prove that’s been done just take a look above at my converse – those puppies have seen whiter days! This outfit may have been worn out to the farmer’s market, but there’s nothing stopping me from re-wearing it and reworking it for different events this summer. After all, you can never go wrong with a good constructed shirt and skirt pairing.
